The DELE A2 exams is an official certification of a person’s level of Spanish. DELE exams follow the guidelines established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Therefore, you can take DELE Exams for levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 y C2.

What level do I need in order to apply for the Spanish nationality?

If you wish to certify your level of Spanish for Spanish nationality, you will need a level A2 or higher (B or C).

What does having a level A2 mean?

A person is considered to have an A2 level when they understand and use frequently used everyday expressions, related to basic information about themselves and about their family, their place of work, their home, free time activities as well as those necessary to go Shopping. The candidate must be able to communicate in a simple way about all these aspects and must also be able to describe in simple terms events from their past and their environment.

How is the DELE A2 exam?

The DELE A2 exam is divided into two parts, an oral interview that is normally conducted on a different day than the rest of the exam, and a written part that assesses listening, reading, and writing skills.

  1. Reading comprehension test: lasts 60 minutes and has 4 different tasks.
  2. Listening test: it lasts 40 minutes and also has 4 different tasks.

Both exam 1 and exam 2 are multiple choice exams. On the one hand you will be given the brochure with the questions and on the other the sheet where you must mark the appropriate answers with a pencil.

  1. Written expression test: lasts 45 minutes and has 2 tasks. One of written interaction (answering an email for example) and another of written expression (writing about your last vacation for example). This exam also has separate answer sheets where you will write both tasks and must be written with a pen (no pencil).
  2. Oral exam: consists of 3 tasks. You will have 12 minutes to prepare and then the interview with the two examiners will last another 12 minutes. In task 1 you Will present a topic, in task 2  you will describe a picture and in task 3 a dialogue of a simulated situation is carried out (for example, returning some shoes in a shoe store. In the simulated situation of this example you would be the client and the interviewer acts as the salesperson.

It is important to remember that the oral exam (exam 4) is usually held on a different date and location than the rest of the DELE A2 exam. Your test center will assign a date and time for you to attend.

How is it rated?

Each exam is worth 25 points (a total of 100 points). To pass the exam you must have obtained a minimum of 30 points between exam 1 and 3 (reading and written expression) and a minimum of 30 points between exam 2 and 4 (listening and speaking).
