After opening her doors in June 2015, the Spanish Language School of the University of Salamanca in Barcelona, ELE USAL Barcelona, continues to build it’s reputation as a learning facility, by providing internship opportunities year-round at the institution.
Although the positions are unpaid, students and recent graduates of Universities, from both Spain and abroad, can build their work experience portfolio when they choose to intern at ELE USAL Barcelona under a range of disciplines, from administrative to teaching Spanish a Foreign Language. Here they are able to apply their studies in a real environment while having the opportunity to enjoy beautiful Barcelona. INTERNSHIP POSITIONS
Events and Marketing Intern
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Some of the intern’s responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the planning, execution and coordination of major events during the year.
- Creating proposals for new events to add to the company’s portfolio.
- Building a list of suppliers in the Barcelona area.
- Creating and posting content to engage Social Media subscribers.
- Maintaining Social Media pages.
- Assisting the Director with marketing campaigns.
- Researching new avenues for marketing.
REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled in a Marketing, Communications or Event Management program.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Publisher.
- Project Management skills are a must.
- Ability to create simple but effective graphics.
- Ability to work as part of a team but must also be self motivated.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Fluent or good working knowledge of Spanish is desired.
- Experience working with new businesses will be an asset.
- Knowledge of Adobe Suite will be an asset.
Librarian Intern
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cataloging and classifying current available resources.
- Developing and maintaining library procedure and code of conduct.
- Assisting students with inquires.
- Liaising with the school’s academic staff.
- Building a relationship with city libraries to complement the school’s current resources.
REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled in a Library Studies program, or a similar area.
- Must be responsible and mature.
- Strong proven IT skills a plus (data basing, etc.)
- Management skills.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Must be fluent in Spanish and English, other languages are a plus.
Reception and Management Assistant Intern
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and assist new or existing students and clients.
- Respond to general phone and email queries.
- Assist the dean of studies with student file management.
- Assist the director with analyzing existing management techniques and proposing new techniques when necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current enrollment in a business management degree or similar area.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Must be fluent or have excellent working knowledge or Spanish and English. Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
- Competence in Microsoft office, Google Products and filing.
- Must be organized and detail-oriented.
- Reception desk experience is a plus.
Hospitality and International Relations Intern
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide online support to students before their arrival to Barcelona.
- Assist with locating adequate lodging to students or clients.
- Hospitality management at school events.
- Building relationships with local businesses and lodgings in close proximity to the school.
- Upkeep of databases pertaining to the hospitality and international relations.
- Continuous research into new trends in the international market for Spanish language schools.
- Meet and greet students at Airports and escorting to lodging.
- Assist the extra-curricular director and events manager.
REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled in a Hospitality, International Relations or Hotel management program.
- Deep interest in Hospitality and helping students adjust to Barcelona.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent researching skills.
- Energetic and bubbly personality.
- Interest in new cultures.
- Fluent in English. Other languages will be an asset.
- Expat experience will be an asset.
Translation and Teaching Assistant Intern
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Director or Dean with the translation of documents.
- Assist with verbal translation throughout the school.
- Assist students or clients with translation at events hosted by the school.
- Assist teachers and tutors when needed in lesson planning.
- Assist teachers and tutors in a small number of lesson executions.
REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled in a Spanish/English translation program.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google products, as well as in translation software.
- Interest or specialization in education will be an asset.
