800 YEARS
In 1492 the USAL became the cradle of Castilian with the publication of the first Grammar of the Castilian Language by Antonio de Nebrija. Since then, the University of Salamanca has made many efforts to promote the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. It was the first European educational institution to obtain the proper title of University. November 9, 1252
